MicroViews

This is a logo I was asked to design for a new project called ‘MicroViews’ created by University of Southampton. Click here to find out more on MicroViews and to see the logo in action.

Banterland

This is a flyer I designed for Miriam Roe and her friends who together form ‘Banterland’; four stand-up comedians performing in Edinburgh’s comedy Festival ‘Free Fringe’. For more info on Banterland click here.

Radio4 Images

Above are three of my favourite photographs which I took for the Radio4 brief.

Radio4

I did this project in university in 2008, the aim of the brief was to create a piece advertisement promoting three radio 4 programmes. I chose ‘Science’, ‘Women’s Hour’ and ‘Book of the Week’. I started off by collecting imagery which corresponded to each programme and then cut the imagery out in my sketch book. The next step was photographing the cut out sections on each page, playing with both the shadows and the cut outs themselves. This concertinaed leaflet is designed so that it divides into three section using perforated edges at the end of each section.

Right person for the job

This is my creative application for a job wanting applicants to apply in a way which wasn’t normal or expected. This is one continuous strip of card which is designed to fold down until it is only one square wide, revealing the sentence as it is unfolded by the receiver.  Attention to mm detail was crucial!

Degree Show 09

The show is still on until June 26 so there is still time for a quick visit! Winchester School of Art, Park Avenue, Winchester  - Simple!

Emerge Pattern

This is my next step of experimentation with the application of Emerge. This is just the beginning stages and something which I will continue to work on over the summer.

Emerge wooden letters

These are my wooden letters which I had cut as part of showcasing Emerge  - they will be the main feature in my degree show at Winchester School of Art (20th–26th June). Exciting stuff!

More info about the degree show can be found be clicking here.

Final Major Project – Emerge

This the typeface which I created and developed for my FMP.

‘Something cannot emerge from nothing’ – Frank Herbert 1920 – 1986

My typeface combines looking at the ‘existing’ and looking at the relationship between individual letters. Using Times New Roman letters I produced a new alphabet. The structure can either be revealed or concealed using the ’skelton’ or ‘filled’ version of the typeface.

Setting rules early on was the key to the success of the typeface – break one and they all fold.
